Creative Writing Contest Details

The 53rd Annual Creative Writing Contest is open to grades 1-12 who live or attend Littleton Public Schools.* 

Entries to be judged are:


  • Poetry: Any length, all forms
  • Short Story: 2,500 words max, fiction or nonfiction
  • Other: Comic, script, essay, speech

 Submissions and Entry Forms can be submitted electronically either by:  

  • Completing the online Creative Writing Contest Entry Form below and providing a link to your document on Google docs in the “Message or Link to Document” section. Then hit send. 
  • Emailing your Entry Form and submission to: friendscreativewritingcontest@gmail.com. You can print the Rules and Entry form pdf below, fill it out, scan it and upload it as a pdf, along with your submission to the email address above.

In either case,  we will let you know within 24 hours that it has been received.  

Alternately,  submissions may be mailed to: Creative Writing Contest, 6904-C W Euclid  Pl, Littleton, CO 80123.  Mailed submissions must be postmarked by  Saturday, March 28, 2020. NO LATE ENTRIES WILL BE ACCEPTED.  Submissions should NOT be dropped off at Bemis  Library. One Entry Form is needed per submission.

* Littleton Public School boundaries are Belleview Avenue, Sheridan Boulevard, Holly Street and County Line Road. 

This is the chance to get published!

All winning entries will be bound in a book and copies will be available for purchase. Past year books may be referenced in the children’s room at the library.

Winners will be notified by the week of April 13th. Due to the volume of contestants, only the winners will be notified.

PLEASE NOTE: This contest is sponsored and managed solely by the Friends of the Littleton Library and Museum.

The staff of the Bemis Public Library has no involvement in procedures or judging.
