Our Mission

The Friends of the Littleton Library and Museum is a nonprofit service organization providing financial and volunteer support for Bemis Public Library and the Littleton Museum. The Friends sponsors and supports events to increase community awareness of these valuable community resources. The Friends offers new and current members opportunities to serve our community, to make new friends, and to ensure that the Library and the Museum remain vital links to our future and to our past.

What We Do

  • Plan and sponsor events that make the most of Littleton's valuable community resources—the library and museum.
  • Provide options for people of all ages, life stages, and demographics to volunteer and enjoy library and museum programming.
  • Enhance our community through reading, history, art, music, cultural experiences, and more that inform, entertain, and share different points of view.
  • Fund programs and supplies for the library and museum, including story times, reading programs, guest speakers, free concerts, supplies for the living history farms, and more.

Bemis Public Library

Bemis Public Library connects the community to reliable information, enriches lives through dynamic programming and services, and is open and welcoming to all. The Midcentury Modern building is adjacent to the lovely Gallup Gardens, across the street from the Littleton Museum, and near Gallup Park’s fields and playground.

The Friends fund reading programs, cultural festivals, bookmobile and doorstep delivery supplies, display furniture, professional development, staff appreciation, and more.

Littleton Museum

The Littleton Museum, a Smithsonian Affiliate, offers a unique link between the area’s past and present through immersive experiences in history, art, and culture. Located on 40 acres adjacent to Ketring Lake, the free museum features two 19th-century living history farm sites, farm animals, three exhibition galleries, a research center, gift shop, and more.

The Friends fund the free Summer Concert Series, blacksmith supplies, art openings, traveling exhibits, professional conferences, and staff appreciation.
